I DON'T HAVE A JOB!!!

Do you know how happy that makes me? A million!

Do you know what the only thing better than being unemployed is? These sexy faces all together in the same place:

Claine's first weekend in Melbourne mostly involved pickling our livers, but we also went down to St Kilda and saw this little cutie:

Wild penguin!
And had a great view of the CBD from the pier:

We also met up with some strangers from the internet. Luckily they were not dirty old men but lovely Hanson fans! Bonus!

We drank champagne with these guys and then reverted to being our usual classy selves:

With our magical vodka super powers topped up, we managed to turn Mathias into a dog! Amazing!

The spell soon wore off though, so we headed home but found an awesome mattress in the street on the way. That's right! FREE MATTRESS!!! Not ones to turn down a bargain, we grabbed it and scarpered:

Sunday was a beautiful day so we headed out to Yarra Bend Park (avid readers may remember it from my last blog post) for a barbecue with some of my friends from my EX-work:

Asia/Europe cook off

Working hard
Hardly working

Min's first time rowing!
Lesson number 1: sit securely on your seat
What a team!
The other boat made friends by crashing into people.
Everyone made it out alive. Yay!
My favourite Korean girlies! I will miss eating lunch with them every day.

Great first weekend! We have done lots of fun stuff since then but I'm exhausted from all the fun so will update later. I will, however, leave you with one last photo:

Yarra Bend Park

Friday was a public holiday here for ANZAC Day (Remembrance Day for Australian and New Zealand armed forces) and the weather was BEAUTIFUL so we decided to get out of the house as we both had the day off.

Yarra Bend Park is only a 10 minute drive from our house and you can hire boats there and go out on the river.

Rowing is hard
<3<3<3

As you can see, it was lovely! There's a great barbecue area at the park so keep your fingers crossed for good weather so we can go back there when the Scottish invasion arrives.

Almost time to leave Melbourne

Only 5 weeks of work left!! I can't express quite how excited we are about that.

We'll be spending 2 boozy weeks being tourists around Victoria with friends and then we will be back on the road again.

In preparation, we bought new sleeping bags today. We're going to be camping in Tasmania and it gets quite cold down there so our current cheapo bags weren't going to be sufficient.

Our new ones have a hood and we can zip them together if it gets really cold. Awwwww <3

Heres our new gear beautifully modeled by Mathias.

Off topic

Nothing to do with Australia, but this photo just came out of me and a bunch of pals with Hanson from when I was back in the UK in December.

Couple this with the fact that I finished work early today and I'm now chilling in bed, I'm having a pretty good Wednesday!

How to win a Frenchman's heart

Saucisson.

Mathias complained that he missed saucisson (dried sausage that looks, and smells, a lot like rotten cock) so I used the world wide web to find a shop in Melbourne that sells it. It's actually only 5 minutes from our house. Bonus!

The lady at the shop recommended one to me - apparently the one that actual French people tend to buy - so I got that and some Comté cheese, plus some red wine and a baguette to go with it.

Now hes sitting in the chair looking like a content wee cat. The cheese was a bit crap (didnt taste like real French Comté), the baguette was too soft, and the wine had only cost $3.50 so probably tasted like piss, but apparently the saucisson was great and tasted like the real deal. Yay!

10 girlfriend points to me!

New Job!

Unfortunately I had to get back into the job hunting business this week, which was rather depressing as I had assumed I wouldn't have to do that again whilst over here.

Yesterday I had my first shift at a hotel, doing housekeeping. It's hot and physical but they give me money and that makes me happy! We celebrated last night with copious amounts of alcohol, which is totally different to our usual Friday nights........................

Anyway, the number one best thing about my new job is that I get FREE LUNCH! Mathias gets free lunch at his job and it has become custom for him to tell me all the yummy things he ate for free when he gets home every day. I've always been very envious of his free food so you can imagine my delight when I heard the words FREE LUNCH at the hotel!!

So, in keeping with tradition, here is a run down of what I ate and did not pay for yesterday:
Veggie pizza
Sweetcorn and green beans
Cheese sandwich
Potato fritter
A lot of coca cola and lemonade

Yum!
